Saab’s New Owner Seeks Rights to call and Logo
The new owner of Swedish company Saab is seeking the rights to utilize the Saab name and logo on the new generation of electric cars.
National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) purchased Saab earlier this month, but the rights to make use of the brand and Saab name weren't contained in the deal. Now, NEVS is in talks with Saab AB and truck maker Scania to get access to the brand.
Scania still uses the emblem on its heavy trucks, and also the decision will ultimately are derived from them on no matter whether NEVS are going to be permitted to apply it. ”Every call time trademark must be discussed,” Scania spokesman Hans-Ake Danielsson told Automotive News Europe. “NEVS can’t get hold of the Saab name until we’ve approved it. That is under discussion right now.”
Scania can also be concerned about its reputation being tarnished by sharing its logo that has a company which they tend not to control. ”We need to protect our good name and brand. We will need to make certain the revolutionary owner is not going to jeopardize that name,” said Danielsson.
